Welcome to Ormiston Maritime Academy! Here is a webpage for our future students to find out all about Ormisiton Maritime Academy and what it’s like for our new students.
Joining High School can be a daunting prospect for any student. But here at Ormiston Maritime Academy we want to make the transition for year 6 to 7 students as smooth as possible.
At OMA we have some of the best facilities and exciting courses for you to really enjoy and get the most out of your time with us and our staff and students are on hand to help you with any concerns you may have during your time here.
When you start at the school you will be placed into a tutor group, this is the place that you will go to every morning to meet with your tutor and other students within your tutor group.
Within your tutor group there will be pupils from the rest of Year 7.
Each year group has a Head of Year, who is there to get help and advice from when you cannot find your tutor.
The Head of Year for Year 7 is Mrs Brown. She will be your Head of Year throughout your time at the Academy.
Each student will also be placed into a house which throughout the year there are many house matches in a range of different subjects that they will have the opportunity to take part in against other houses to try and win trophies for your house.
Last year we had house matches in events such as sporting activities, maths, kite making and talent contests to name just a few.
At OMA we understand that transition to high school can be as much a time of worry for parents as it is for the child, therefore with this in mind we aim to dispel any concerns and answer any questions you may have before, during and after your child has come to the academy. If you have any queries please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
