Born in Grimsby, I have lived in the town my entire life. Before embarking on a teaching career I worked in retail and ran my own business for a short period of time. My ambition had always been to become a teacher and, after completing my university degree, I became a teaching assistant working at two local secondary schools with students with special needs before signing on to the Graduate Teaching Programme at Hereford Technology School where I became a qualified teacher. Here I taught PSHE, Health and Social Care, Psychology and Sociology taking on a variety of roles including Lead Teacher, Head of PSHE and Director of Guidance and Humanities.

I have been at Ormiston Maritime Academy (previously Hereford School) for sixteen years and recently reignited my passion for working with students with special needs provision when, in 2016, I was appointed to the Senior Leadership Team as Special Educational Needs Coordinator. I spent a year studying through Edge Hill University where I attained The National Award for Special Needs Coordinators. My driving passions are to inspire students to overcome difficulties, to improve their self-esteem and enable them to achieve their potential, and to become successful members of society.
