My role at Ormiston Maritime Academy is Finance Director; which means I am responsible for managing and ensuring the efficient and effective use of resources within the Academy. In addition, I take great pride in managing a team who ensure that the Academy is a safe, secure and stimulating environment for everyone who works, learns or visits our Academy.
I have lived in Grimsby for the whole of my adult life. I spent my childhood years in the catchment area of Ormiston Maritime Academy. I have worked as a Senior Leader in education for over 20 years, the last 9 years at Ormiston Maritime Academy. I feel privileged to have been able to help lead the school which serves the catchment that I grew up in.
I am proud that I have made a difference to the educational experience of many students throughout Yorkshire and Humberside in that time. I have been actively involved in the creation of 4 new builds at 5 of the schools I have worked at.
Before my career working in education, I was a Personnel Manager for a national shipping and logistics company based at Immingham Docks. This business employed over 1000 personnel and operated in extremely competitive industries.
Both my children attended a local secondary school and are successful in their respective careers. I am extremely proud of them both. In addition, my wife and I have recently become grandparents for the first time.
I have a number of interests outside of work and these include playing snooker in the local doubles league (which I have done for over 20 years) and participating in Park Runs. The challenge I have set myself in July 2017 was to run a total of 50 5 km Park Runs before November 2018. As at 11th September 2018, I have completed 42 of them. Just 8 to go!
