This term Ormiston Maritime Academy has been hosting a transition project “moving on”.

Thirty Ormiston Maritime Academy students; receiving singing and instrumental lessons, have been leading groups of primary school students in year 6. The project involved composing and performing lead by local professional musicians.

The project has been funded by the “Arts” council. Only 2 secondary schools have been able to participate, so it has been a huge privilege to host the event. The Primary schools involved were Nunsthorpe, South Parade and Western. The primary school students felt they gained confidence working with the Ormiston Maritime Academy students. They felt much more positive and excited about coming to Ormiston Maritime Academy in September.

Ormiston Maritime Academy students enjoyed reflecting on their own personal journeys and working with a band of professional musicians.
